Shut down your computer periodically

I like to shut down my computer when it is not in use. Some people never shut their computers down. By shutting down, the performance improves because the computer clears temporary memory cache, saves energy and avoids being a target to virus or Malware.

Power cycle goes one more step. You not only shut down but unplug all external devices and components, wait several minutes and replug them.  This assures that no residual electrical charge is left in the system and verifies connections to devices and components.  Whether it is a computer, a cable modem or any other electronic device, the first advice from the service desk is to power cycle your device. Apparently it takes care of a majority of hardware issues.
